Additional Info The Haight-Ashbury Street Fair is a non-profit organization [501(c)(3)] dedicated to celebrating the cultural history and diversity of one of San Francisco's most internationally celebrated neighborhoods - The Haight-Ashbury District. For the last 40+ years, HASF has produced the annual street fair that features arts and crafts, food booths, three musical stages, a Family Area (Children's Alley) and more. It also serves as a means for community groups and mercantile vendors to interact with the public and expand their base.

The street fair was developed in response to the re-birth of the economic and residential spirit of the community in the mid-1970's. With the assistance of the late San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk, the first District 5 and openly Gay supervisor, a group of neighborhood merchants, activists and residents developed this organization with the idea of sponsoring a day long community celebration. The first Haight-Ashbury Street Fair was held on April 30, 1978, to the fanfare of the neighborhood and the City.
